MANUIA

"MANUIA"

A prosperous state of existence. 

Not defined or limited by money or material wealth. 
But a holistic state of wellbeing.

Often offered in greetings:
“Manuia le aso” - blessings / well wishes this day
“Manuia le taeao” - blessings / well wishes on this morning

Other times used in celebration:
“Ia Manuia” - may it be well / prosperous

Many words in their originating languages hold much more depth and meaning than the words they are translated to in English.

The concept of “Manuia” can be understood in an indigenous context, as it allows room for a more nuanced understanding of prosperity, an understanding that is prosperous, well and blessed in all aspects, especially intangible ones (such as spiritual connection, and community connection).

One of our phrases, “Live Manuia”, is a reminder to live a life that is “manuia”, or prosperous, in all aspects.
